Climate and Weather in Great Britain

You've heard the weather in England is changeable. Ha! The weather in England is fascinating!

Any given hour of any given day might see you strolling in brilliant sunshine, popping your brolly for a sudden downpour, and working on your tan in the park 15 minutes later.

Dress in layers, carry an umbrella, and enjoy air washed clean by the lovely rains. Colors glow in England, flowers run rampant, and look for skies as dramatic and exciting as any you'll find anywhere.

The charts below can be used as guidelines, but understand that the south of Great Britain gets about half the rain of the northern parts and the west is warmer than in the east.

3:55 pm on a London afternoon, in front of the National Gallery at Trafalgar Square

30 minutes later, 4:25 pm that same afternoon on the other side of Trafalgar Square

And as you can see, it's now 4:50 pm that same afternoon a few blocks up the road

There are no lack of sunny days to follow the rain

I heard a charming lady call this afternoon a "soft day"; misty, warm, and gentle

Raining afternoons clean the air and make the colors glow
